Welcome to the Alberta Family Mediation Society

Alberta Family Mediation Society (AFMS) advocates resolution of family conflict through the use of mediation by qualified professionals.

The Alberta Family Mediation Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping Albertans figure out their options when faced with a family conflict.  Our Find A Mediator function allows you to view our list of qualified family mediators and contact them directly.  Use our website to learn more about family mediation, how to prepare for it, what to expect and who to call.

Our mediator members work independently in their own practices and they charge for their services. Please contact them directly to ask about their fees, schedule and your situation.

Commencing December 18, 2023, the Court of King’s Bench implemented four (4) mandatory pre-court requirements as part of the Alberta Justice Family Justice Strategy. These mandatory requirements, which are summarized here, will only apply in Edmonton and Calgary. As more resources become available, it is anticipated that they will be expanded to Judicial Centres throughout the Province.

To find family mediators that meet this requirement, use the Find A Mediator button above.
